Joseph Sidwell, b. ca 1775, North Carolina, m. 15 Sep 1798, Knoxville, TN to Margaret Hutchinson, b ca 1780 North Carolina. Both died ca 1865 Clinton County, KY.

Delilah Sidwell, b ca 1813 Cumberland County, KY, m ca 1834, Cumberland County, KY, to William T. Daniel, b ca 1813 Tennessee. Both last found in census, Overton County, TN 1860.

Josiah Cyrus Daniel, b. ca 1835 Clinton County KY, m. June 1857, Clinton County KY to Elizabeth Sheffield, b 1841, Clinton County, KY, d 1900, Clay County, TN. Josiah d 1883 Clay County, TN.

And so on for 4 more generations to me.

Note that Clinton County, KY was formed in 1835 from the eastern part of Cumberland County and the western part of Wayne County. Also note that Clay County, TN was formed in Dec. 1870 from parts of several counties, mostly Overton.

Whilst perusing the Cumberland/Clinton Counties, KY, censuses from 1810 to 1840, I have surmised that this couple had the following children:

William, b. 1799
Son, b. 1801
Son, b. 1804
Son, b. 1806
Son, b. 1808
Daughter, b. 1811
Delilah, b. 1813
Lavina, b. 1818
Daughter, b. 1820

The three known names interact with my Daniel forbears. The others remain unknown. Does anyone have information on the names of the unknowns, and/or the parentage of Joseph and/or Margaret? I would be delighted to exchange information.

I'm uncertain of the best spot for entering this information so that it can be seen by all who might be interested; however, I'll post here as well as the Alexander, Siddle, and Siddall boards.

Esther or Hester, referred to by both names in the minutes of the church to which she and James belonged, used the spelling Sidwell but was the daughter of Job Siddle/Siddall (both spellings used in his will) and Sarah Hudson, who were married in Caswell Co, NC. She and her sister Judith were both named as Alexanders in the will, and Judith was married to James's double-first cousin, James C. Alexander. Both James and James C. were at the estate sale held after Job's death, the only Alexanders purchasing items except James father Matthew and a couple of his brothers. The naming of children proves nothing but may be of interest: Ira (for uncle), Sarah, and Nancy by Esther and James; and Sarah, Job, and Nancy by Judith and James C.

I have transcriptions of the documents at the URL http://genealogy.johnandval.org/JobSiddleWill.html for the will and URL http://genealogy.johnandval.org/JobSiddleEstateSale.html for the list of people purchasing at the estate sale. If you copy and post my documents elsewhere, please give me credit (or blame) for transcribing them.

WRONG INFO regarding Thomas Y Sidwell of Georgia is rampant on internet

There is a tremendous amount of wrong info on online trees regarding my GGGgf Thomas Y Sidwell (1808-1886) of Warren & Greene Co Georgia. No matter how many messages I send out, it does not seem to slow the spread of this incorrect info.

1)He did NOT die in 1881 and he did not die in Madison GA
He died in 1886 in Greene County GA. There is a notice of his death in 1886 in Greensboro Baptist Church records AND his obituary appears in the Greensboro Herald Journal in 1886.

2)He was NOT the son of David Sidwell Jr who died in 1817 Morgan Co Ga. David Sidwell Jr & his wife Elizabeth did have a son named Thomas J Sidwell who died unmarried in 1836 at the age of 23. His obituary appeared in the Milledgeville GA newspaper, naming his stepfather Clementius Zachary. David Sidwell Jr's widow Elizabeth married Clementius Zachary.

Thomas Y Sidwell was a son of Lydia Sidwell (single) and unknown father. Lydia was a sister of David Sidwell Jr.
An 1810 Warren Co GA deed shows that Lydia Sydwell, single woman, bequeathed a slave to her "infant son Thomas Y Sydwell". This was just before she married her first husband James Littleton.
